I can’t remember a day in my life on which I had felt as happy with my regular life as today. A day on which I do not wish myself anywhere else, on which I do not want to turn back time or turn it forward, on which I don’t want to wear something else or look different or feel different. I think I’ve finally managed to feel (not just reason about) my emotions and thoughts, see them spread out before me, look at them without trying to modify them so that they would put me into a more gentle light – no, I am ready to face myself and I can feel it in every pore. He and I reconnected, too – I think, finally, I see him, really see him, and feel his love for me. It feels endless. And my love for him couldn’t be stronger. I owe him a lot, but most I am extremely happy that he did not abandon me. He loves me. And I will make it up to him by being there for him, showing up for him, loving him and appreciating all that he is. I am happy.

To improve: I still can’t follow my impulses to check whether an interpretation is right, or to check in with my partner how he is feeling, when I feel threatened by a situation or when I am afraid I’ll lose something. Sharing is not losing – sharing is multiplying! My hyper-independence does not allow me to accept this. I will overcome it.

→ Today I will share something and if it’s information, a piece of cake, or something else. This week I will share something important with him. Not gift, but share.

    To improve

Yesterday, I forgot to send his best wishes to Y. I ntoiced when I was in his and my chat. I sent him greetings from her, then his to her. And she did not greet back. In the evening, I confessed to her and she sent her greetings → I did what I did because I thought I could predict her reaction so easily but I could not. I got the proof immediately. I cannot read other people’s thoughts!

Level up today: Do not predict people’s thoughts! Do not make assumptions about their future behavior! Today, I will only do what I can do and make room for other people’s honest reactions. I will then react based on what’s truly on the table. I will react to their reactions.

    Journaling

Before falling asleep yesterday, I kept repeating the learnings. I kept feeling that they will make a difference. I hadn’t felt that as deeply as yesterday before. I agree with all the standards, all the maximes. Yes, making mistakes is the only way to advance. Yes, listening truly and excitedly to the people around you is the only way to lead meaningful conversations. Yes, leaning in if you hurt someone is the only way to create rapport, show understanding and truly experience love. I have lived my life in distance, from a distance, because I was too afraid to get hurt. But I am safe now. And what I truly desire is love, closeness, passion, meaningful sharing, true rapport, and to advance my own personality by actually listening, feeling, and becoming more than just me. I can be more than my emotional, trigger-driven self.

    Improve today:

Today, I want to be aware of my mistakes and admit them when I make them. I want to be able to pause, and say, oh, that was wrong, I am sorry that I did xx, what can I do for you? Or: oh, that was wrong, I am sorry that I did xx, let me make this right (If it’s a little more clear what went wrong). I want to be proud of recognizing and admitting to my flaws. I will make myself vulnerable, but I will also make myself human.

Was genau hat dich verletzt? Was brauchst du jetzt von mir?
    • Prämisse: Ich weiß es nicht am besten! Die andere Person weiß mehr. → be curious! What do they know that I don’t?

    Positive Formulierung:

    1. Ich antworte direkt auf Fragen.

→ herausfinden, was die andere Person meint

Beziehung: 1) Lieben 2) Liebe bekommen 3) Zeitpunkt

    1. Intention
    2. Begründung
    3. Info
    4. Frage/Conclusio

Zwischen 1 und 2: Entkräftigung möglicher Impact.

    [Ausarbeitung eines Beispiels]

    Entschuldigung:
    1. WHAT: kläre ab, dass ich mich entschuldigen will
    2. WHY: weil Abmachung nicht eingehalten, weil… (Fehler!)
    3. HOW (NOT): Info, die andere Person nicht hat; was ich vor habe besser zu machen
    4. HOW DO U FEEL? Ist das okay für dich? Was brauchst du von mir?

    [Ausarbeitung weiterer Beispiele]

    S – scared
    E – embarrassed
    E – expecting
    N – need

→ selbst herausfinden, was mich beschäftigt

Yesterday, I collected him from the airport. I still felt a slight discrepancy between us, but we also felt so normal and loving, I am positive we will work it out. We made out and went out. As it got late, he asked me what I wanted to do – I said I’d prefer to just be in a small group. A little while later he said he preferred to go home but he didn’t say whether just the 2 of us or with other people and I didn’t ask because I assumed that it would be the 2 of us. At home, his friends called and they came by. We had a short argument about me not knowing. I said I should’ve asked – although I actually couldn’t have ‚cause I didn’t think this was an option. He called that lying. I think I was claiming control over the situation and looking for ways to blame myself. We let it go and it was fine.

    Things to do better:

[checkbox unticked]

    Journaling

I slept well! My tooth did not hurt as much as I had thought. I did not have to take a pain killer. Yei! I did not dream, I think. I think it was a calming, sound sleep. It’s sunny outside and the park is blooming with light. The trees look skinny. Today, I will get myself a flower… and have something alive and beautiful to look at. I feel my tooth now, a little bit. I hope it stays like this. I am afraid that it will get so very bad again that I can’t sleep at all, that I can’t dream and that I can’t function. I don’t want to be on painkillers all the time, it kills the feelings, too. I am a little dizzy and my throat is sore. My eyes are not yet fully opening. I still struggle with moving right after I get up, my body is so stiff!

    What I will do better

    1. I didn’t tell him when I returned his car to its parking position and he told me that he was slightly worried. If I borrow something from someone, I will keep them up-to-date about its fate – it would make be happy too. [checkbox ticked]
    2. I will continue working on my ability to answer and backcheck questions. I want to ask more proactively today what people mean when they ask me a question. [checkbox ticked]

    Evening round-up

Today was a bit of a random day but a fun day afterall… I met with X and she told me about Y. I have to admit I find Y very cute. I’m going to tell him about it. Also need his opinion whether it’s appropriate to be interested in one of X’s friends – and maybe she’d even be interested in hanging with him and me. But first, I need to clarify, then approach.

Regarding my wanna-dos: Told X about my reading progress of the borrowed book and asked him in our talk repeatedly whether that was what he wanted to know and whether he wanted to know something else from me. He might have to go to Z around my birthday, kind of a shame, and he might not be able to join me on my travels afterall. I would have loved him there. But that’s still in development, so we’ll see.

In a bit, I’m going to the airport to collect him. I am really looking forward to seeing him!

    Morning journaling:

Yesterday was painful, but with him it was good and then he called because I had sent him a text telling him that X and I would be talking soon. He asked whether I’d actually have time next week for that and I had to admit, maybe not so much – and then he asked something about the relevance of this all for our shared travel plans and I did not answer his questions but interpreted what he wanted to know. It escalated, he shouted, I was detached. But we soon got around and to an understanding, yet for him this meant again questioning everything. I question whether we’ll ever fit, whether our ways to communicate will ever fit together. Whether I’ll ever able to answer exactly, because I’m so trained to answering what I believe was asked – without the person actually asking that.

Today, my tooth still aches but it’s much better. I could sleep! I had a weird dream. I think it was about belonging somewhere.

What I want to do better:

    1. Today, I want to listen closely and answer what is actually asked of me. I want to observe whether I am doing this also in my day-to-day life. [checkbox ticked]
    2. Also, I do not want to ask manipulative questions but dare to hear a no/yes also if this means something bad for me. The way to not do this is to not phrase something like, Du hast gerade echt viel zu tun, oder? – I think I forgot how it was – I will ask him to send me this example again. [checkbox ticked]

    Evening check-in:

    1. I noticed when I answered something else without checking back. I could still improve my backchecking.
    2. I reformulated a question to Y when I noticed it was going in the direction of ‚this is how I want her to answer to me‘.

Today was intense. Today was good. My tooth(s) still ache(s) – I’m afraid that something else is up… Today was good. He and I talked. Tomorrow, he’ll be back and I can’t wait to see him – his smile, his eyes. I long for him. I hope we’ll be able to get through the currents.
